THE IMPACT OF USING DUOLINGO THROUGH MOBILE-ASSISTED LANGUAGE LEARNING TO IMPROVE VOCABULARY MASTERY STUDENTS IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

This study attempts to determine the impact of using Duolingo through Mobile Assisted Language Learning to improve vocabulary acquisition of junior high school students. This research uses a Quantitative approach with a quasi-experiment method involving two classes as experimental tests. In this study, data were obtained through tests in the form of Pre-test and Post-test, with Experiment and Control classes. The results showed that classroom learning using Duolingo had a significant impact on improving student scores. The population and samples in this study were students of SMPN 2 Puri Mojokerto. The results showed that the scores of all students increased after using the Duolingo application with the Mobile-Assisted Language Learning approach. The last data analysis result was obtained from the t-test where the hypothesis analysis obtained the value of t count> t table which is 2.679> 1.999. Thus, Ha is accepted. So, it can be concluded that Duolingo has an impact on improving the vocabulary mastery of junior high school students.
