EFFECTIVENESS OF POWTOON MEDIA AS DIGITAL SPELLING BEE ON STUDENT'S VOCABULARY MASTERY

The foundational knowledge required to comprehend language is vocabulary. The concept of "vocabulary" refers to one's comprehension of words, their meanings, and communication abilities. This research is motivated by students who cannot speak English due to a lack of Vocabulary especially on junior high school of 2 Kemlagi. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the impact of Powtoon videos on students' vocabulary development. A quasi-experimental design with non-randomized or nonequivalent pre- and post-tests was used. The mean, median, and standard deviation of the data were calculated using SPSS version 22. Pre- and post-test questions collected data from both experimental and control classrooms. Analysis revealed significant results (p < 0.05, Sig. < 0.05), with t count at 6.110, exceeding t table (2.002). This supports accepting the alternative hypothesis (Hα), indicating that Powtoon videos enhance student vocabulary mastery.
